What’s New in Processing
2002
• LED SABS1459:1988 – first approved LED Traffic Signals in SA
• 2002 – Sintrol Agency – dust switches and monitoring
• 1998 – SL2000 – Telemetry & Fire Detection System – the SL2000 system was developed
between 1995 and 1998, based on LonWorks® digital communications network technology.
The first field trials were installed at Great Noligwa Gold Mine, and the final system installed at
their premises in October 1998. Currently more than • 55 systems are installed at various mines.
1997
• Weber Captor appointed as agents – manufactures of air and liquid flow meters and switches
for low flow applications
• June 1992 IS Oldham – appointed as agents (gas detection and emission monitoring)
• Installation of first Fire Detection & Telemetry System for harsh environments
1995
• SANAE IV – Supplied monitoring system for the South African base in Antarctica for both scientific and facility maintenance. Remotely monitored from Pretoria, 120 channels measure parameters such as wind speed, air temperature, gas levels, door open/close status, and lateral building movement.
• Coal Mining – developed the unique MM100 mechanical miner monitoring system which is fully approved by SABS for use in explosive environments and IS approved.
1993
• First National Battery – joint venture developed the caplamp mounted Toxalarm and Flamalarm for detection of carbon monoxide and methane gas respectively. Toxalarm is engineered to operate continuously at 95% relative humidity and intermittently at 99%.
