Sperosens Fire Suppression systems are the appropriate solution for the prevention of fire for your conveyor belts, electrical sub-stations, as well as Fuel-, and/or Oil bays. These systems actually prevent fires from breaking out through early detection and appropriate suppression of identified high risk areas.
Our core expertise includes applied engineering solutions for telemetry, fire detection systems and maintenance of client solutions. Spero Group focuses on creating safe working and operational environments in challenging and harsh conditions through our range of innovative certified products and solutions. The first SL2000 telemetry system has been installed in 1997 at Great Noligwa Gold Mine. The company now boasts some of the largest underground installed networks, with a high degree of innovation and solid customer base of more than 60 installations.
In 2010 the SL2000 system was upgraded to the SL2010 offering a wide area distributed network aimed at monitoring and controlling a vast amount of remote devices in harsh environments. Sperosens developed this solution to assist mines in improving underground data communication, and is mostly utilised as an underground environmental monitoring and fire detection system. The field network is based on LonWorks®technology, and is implemented as a free topology, custom configurable and expandable solution based on specific mining requirements. The SL2010 software suite is built on .NET, SQL and ASP technology and allows the system to capture, store and display data, even by remote web access. Sperosens now offers SL2010 Software as a Service (SAAS), whereby the acquisition, installation and maintenance is available as a total package within a Service Level Agreement (SLA).
Our on-going success can be attributed to our unique product innovation, excellence in solution design and formulation supported by high quality installations. The company designed, installed and commissioned several pioneering industrial projects, especially in the petrochemical emission monitoring, flow and gas detection environment. We have also completed unique protection systems for the industry in confined spaces, control rooms and warehouses.
The Speroblaze CAFS (compressed air foam systems) have been installed at Bokoni, Modika, Swartklip, Union, Rustenburg, BHP Billiton in Hotazel and Great Noligwa. The CAFS were recommended because of their problems with access to pumped water, and met the client’s requirements. Sperosens adheres to the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA code 16) standards which prescribes an AFFF as a suppression agent.
Combining a dosing pump with sensors and a controller and the Sperosens engineering capabilities, an existing NFPA15 system can be converted to a fully NFPA16, compliant system. Thus the SperoDose was born. By using the existing infrastructure, Sperosens saved the mines a significant amount of capital and natural resources. The company installed our first SperoDose systems at Hotazel Wessels Mine. Swartklip Platinum mine at Northam mine Anglo mines in the Rustenburg region followed soon thereafter. Because the SperoDose mixing systems work without external energy under variable pressure conditions, the reliability is exceptional. The drive is powered completely by the pumped water flow. The water flows through the water motor, which is installed directly in the pumped water line. The pumped water flow is therefore fully available for fire-fighting without any losses. To date Sperosens have installed various SperoDose systems for conveyor belt fire protection in the platinum region. Recently two dosing systems were installed at a Great Noligwa Gold Plant. This was a very unique and challenging project. The plant has high volumes of water and larger areas had to be covered. The SperoDose system met all these statutory requirements and can be expanded with the client’s growing needs. A single unit can cover both the head and tail of a conveyor belt application. By using the plant’s limited resources and available water, the client has a remarkable saving on the costs of the installation.
